"I think that guy is out
of his league," said Ron to Veronica, his wife. "He needs
to take some skiing lessons." They were watching a sports show together, as
they finished their breakfast.
"Yes, he does,"
agreed Veronica, smiling at Ron. "There, he just fell again! It's a
good thing that snow is soft."
"He's making some serious
errors and could break his neck, if he doesn't learn to position his skis properly," replied Ron. "He'll fall every time with them positioned like that."
"Now look who's talking like
an old ski pro," chided Veronica.
"He's in Canada ,"
said Ron, smiling. "Maybe he is cold."
"I love Canada in
January," replied Veronica . "The air is really cold and
clear, but the days are so bright and sunny!"
"I have an idea.
We have the day off, so let's go skiing," suggested Ron. "I am
determined to lose some weight. I always pick up extra pounds over the
Christmas holidays."
"And you have no idea why,
right?" Veronica laughed, but knew they were both out of shape.
Veronica and Ron put on their
ski suits and helmets, packed their skis, boots and poles into the car and
headed for the ski slopes. It was still early and relatively
quiet, when they got there. It was not long, before they were at the
top of the mountain slope. Both Veronica and Ron were full of
energy and ready to go.
"You sure you want to do
this?" asked Veronica, with a grin. "Think we ought to practice a
bit, first?"
"No, let's go,"
said Ron, taking off down the slope. Veronica watched with horror, as he
fell almost immediately. He quickly got up and looked back at her.
"Maybe you are
right!" he hollered.
"I hope you didn't hurt
yourself," said Veronica, as she drew closer to him. "Now look who's
out of his league!"
"I am
fine," said Ron, laughing at his own awkwardness. "It's
only our first run! Let's try an easier slope.
We'll take it slow and easy
for a while."
"Good idea," said
Veronica.
