"May we have some more milk, please," said Dani, the more talkative of the twins. Dana did not say a lot, but was obviously enjoying her milk and cookies.
Crystal smiled.
"Right on cue," she thought to herself. "These two know just exactly what to do."
As Penny got up and went to the refrigerator to get more milk for the girls, Crystal quickly slipped a silver teaspoon under the ruffle of her long-sleeved, white shirt. Moments later, the silver teaspoon went into the back pocket of her blue jeans. Then, Crystal took off her sweater and tied it around her waist.
"Thank you," said the twins, simultaneously.
"You three are such lovely girls," said Penny, who was anxious to do some more unpacking. "Promise me that you will come and visit me again soon."
"We promise," replied Crystal politely, as they headed for the door. "Thank you for the milk and cookies."
"Thank you," echoed the twins in unison.
Penny could hear them running down the hallway towards the elevator. All of them were giggling, as they got on the elevator.
"I love the sound of giggling girls," she thought to herself. "So well mannered too!"
"Grandma's going to love this!" Crystal said, pulling the silver teaspoon out of her back pocket. "If she does not want to keep it, Grandpa can take it to the antique store and get money to buy cigars."
"What if we get caught?" asked Dani. "We will be in big trouble."
"We won't replied Crystal. "We are smarter than that, aren't we?"
The twins nodded.
"I must have put that silver teaspoon somewhere, when I was unpacking the silverware," thought Penny. "It will turn up."
Little did she know that she would never see it again.
